Like using GPS, when we are told what to do versus finding our own way we do not engage with what we know and feel, we trust the external. We don’t question or reflect, we don’t fail, we don’t even feel, we just mindlessly follow and do. Take that GPS away and we are forced to think, to engage with the environment and those around us and to try, to get lost and try again and ultimately we learn with each step. What we learn becomes ours and it then stays with us so we may in the future use as a stepping stone to get further, deeper, higher bigger and no longer need to rely on external guidance. This goes for everything in life, if we constantly look to the external for our personal guidance we will end up in the middle of a world that is not our own and no fortitude to find our way home. But if we learn not by being told how-to and instead by experiencing, trying, failing and trying again we strengthen the trust in ourselves as our own guide. There is no greater feeling that being lost and finding your own way.
