Law of Nature: Clean up after yourself

There are plenty of ways to put this. Pack it in, pack it out; Leave no trace; If you make a mess you clean it up;  And my all time favorite: leave everything a little better than how you found it. I see this law applies to all areas of our lives. In the literal sense, if you make a mess at home at dinner time, you clean it up so that the dirty plates don’t pile up in the sink. If you go eat a snack at the park, you pick up the wrapper and put it in the trash bin. If you go on a hike, you keep to the path so you don’t trample growing saplings or break tree branches for no reason other than you can. You borrow your friends car, you bring it back clean and with gas.

But looking a little deeper and his law applies to every single aspect of life. For instance, if you make a mistake at work like say you took an afternoon off when you had time sensitive work to complete and because you were not there the work fell on your co-workers who are not as well versed as you are on that particular project and they make a mistake. This then creates a mess involving your co-workers and potentially even your customers. It is on you do your best to fix what went wrong as a result of the decision you made to not complete that particular task. If you have trouble in a relationship lets say you have trouble forgiving your partner and you can’t let things go that have already been resolved, you work on finding what is causing you this issue and find a way to resolve it perhaps with the outside help of a counselor. I think quite a few of us are dealing with the results of our upbringing and as adults we are left with the mess of our parents’ parenting and all that we have contributed to that same mess and it is our job to do the work to heal our wounds and to move forward with intention.

Sometimes we are left to clean up after others and as frustrating as it may seem at the time it also teaches us the impact of our own mess making. So perhaps going forward we are a little more aware of the consequences of our actions and our words. We do the soul searching to find and heal our own old woulds and we free ourselves from the weight of the negative mental and emotional energy that comes with problems. We all are members of this world and of this society and we each have our own weight to pull to keep it moving forward. Once our time is done here, lets know we are leaving the world a little better than how we found it.
